据报导，由于“系统问题”，Target 的收银机出现故障，全美各地的 Target 都出现了大规模无法结账的情况，结账队伍越来越长。几个小时之后，Target 表示已经解决了这个问题。

根据 CNN 报导，ET 时间下午3点左右，佐治亚州的好几处 Target 收银机已经停止了45分钟。收银员被迫采用手机处理交易，有些店面甚至选择暂时关闭。部分 Target 的工作人员向受影响的客户分发了免费饮料和小吃，但还是有好多客人被迫选择去别的超市。
排队的人群很多有点沮丧，他们会有一些唠叨，还有一些人把东西扔在地上，但是没有爆发什么问题。

Target 的发言人 Danielle Schumann 表示，经过“初步但彻底的审查”后，这次的问题已确定不是“数据泄露或与安全相关的问题”，并且没有任何数据遭到破坏。工作人员在两小时后解决了问题。
